Fire and diamond
when the term fire is used to describe diamond what does it refer to? in ancient Greeks, fire in a diamond
symbolized the eternal flame of love. Fire in a diamond is the dispersed light
that appears as rainbow-like flashes of color which can usually be observe (diamond’s fire) in places like restaurants, clubs or where the light is lower.
The amount of fire depends on how the stone is cut and faceted. Older cut
diamonds appear as if they have more fire because they’re cut with steep crown
angles and flatter tables of the facets.
brilliance and scintillation are Other characteristics that are used to describe or evaluate a diamond. Brilliance requires both brightness and
contrast in the diamond and refers to how light is reflected back to the
viewer, or return-of-light in the diamond trade. To many jewelers, it’s the
most important quality in a diamond, and is what people react to when they
exclaim over a diamond.
Diamonds also have a quality called scintillation.
Scintillation refers to how light disperses from the stone when it’s moved.
While brilliance is the quality of dispersed light when the diamond is in a
stationary position, scintillation is observed when the diamond moves in the
light. They’re closely related qualities, while fire is a different attribute.
The way a diamond is cut will determine how much fire or
brilliance it has, and often one may have to make a trade-off for one quality
or another. Which way is the best way to go? For the most part, most diamonds
are cut more for brilliance and scintillation rather than for fire. But what really
matters is whether you love it. Qualities like brilliance vs. fire really do
pale in comparison to that one critical element!

Jewelry Care and Cleaning
How to care and protect Jewelry Is your jewelry of more value to you, it is valuable enough for you to want to take care of it. Jewelry Care means being careful you do no lose it as well as being careful how you store and clean it. When you buy jewelry, any jewelry, from the most expensive fine jewelry to inexpensive costume jewelry, you buy it because it is beautiful. The gleam of the metal and the shine or luster and fire of the gems appeal to your aesthetic sense of beauty, based on what you can afford. The better the jewelry, the longer you want to wear it, perhaps even for rest of your life, and the longer you want it to have that like new glow, although some metals and finishes attain a warm patina with wear. What you don't want, however, is scratched or gouged settings and dull gems. Accidents can happen, but all too often the jewelry is damaged by carelessness or not taking the few moments necessary to tend to the jewelry. In most cases, being careful is the only care jewelry needs. Some types of jewelry, nevertheless, need special care because the gems may be soft, absorbent, or fragile. Keep in mind that the harder the gem and the higher it is on the Mohs scale of hardness, the more durable it generally is. At time, a hard gem with high or distinct cleavage is apt to be fragile and may break or cleave if it is struck at the right angle. Hardness therefore is not synonymous with toughness. A tough gem may be soft enough to be more easily scratched but it is less apt to break or shatter. These characteristics have pertinence in wearing, cleaning, and storing jewelry, and in remodeling. Metals have similar characteristic. The purer the silver and gold, the more easily it can be damaged. Also, you must consider the combination of metal in settings with gem or gems. What may be perfectly good to clean a metal, such as sterling silver, may not be the best for the gems. You have to consider the jewelry as a whole, not as simply metal or gems. These point are tied in with the third point: the care you take with your jewelry to protect it from loss, both when you are wearing it and when you put it away for safekeeping. All the care in cleaning and storing will not matter if you lose the jewelry. The care you should take in this sense involves the precautions you would take to make sure you do not lose something you like and enjoy. That common sense, and it is common sense whether or not the jewelry is insured, and whether or not it is valuable. The precautions you should take with any jewelry that you like and that means anything to you, in fact, are simple common sense. - Protection of jewelry First of all, think about what you do when wearing jewelry. Rings are good example of how common sense can prevent loss. More Rings are probably lost through carelessness than any other type of jewelry, because they are more apt to be taken off when being worn than pins or necklaces, bracelets or even earrings. So, Precaution Number One, if you wear rings, is to wear them at all times, or be careful with them as you are with your money and credit cards. Men and women, incidentally, tend to regard rings differently. - Storing and cleaning jewelry When you take jewelry off, all jewelry and not only rings, what do you do with it? First, you should have a good and safe place for it. Second, that place should keep the jewelry safe not only from loss but also from damage. The worst place you can put it is in a jewelry box already filled with other jewelry all jumbled together, where it can become scratched or more seriously hurt. The best place you can put jewelry is in individual leather or cloth cases or bags that will protect each piece from being damaged by other pieces of jewelry. If you do not have separate boxes from the jeweler for each piece of jewelry, at least put each piece in an individual case of some kind and do not drop it casually into a jewelry box. In most cases, a plastic bag is a good substitute for leather or cloth. Plastic, however, should never be used with pearls, opals, and ivory, which need air to retain their beauty. Plastic, nevertheless, does have an advantage for other jewelry in that you can easily see the piece of jewelry that is in the bag. This method, incidentally, is also good for costume jewelry, which can be scratched as easily, if not more so, than precious jewelry. Cleaning is also important in retaining and restoring the beauty and luster of jewelry with and without gems. Even gold can discolor from soaps and perspiration. Silver can be especially prone to tarnish, although almost all American sterling silver jewelry is coated with rhodium, an element of platinum, to prevent tarnishing. Any other silver that is worn all the time rarely needs polishing either, since wear retards tarnish. It still may need cleaning, though. In fact, any metal may need cleaning now and then to remove dirt, soil, or soap film, as may gems. There are, in general, four methods of cleaning jewelry. Although all are safe for cleaning precious metal and diamonds, all are not interchangeable and safe for all kinds of jewelry. These are the methods most commonly suggested and used, but be sure to read further for the exceptions and for the precautions you should take with specific metals and gems. -Detergents Bath. Mix a mild detergent and warm water in a small bowl or cup. Immerse the jewelry, brushing the pieces with an eyebrow brush. Rinse the jewelry under warm running water, being sure to put the jewelry into a tea strainer or cheesecloth for safety's sake. Pat dry with lintels cloth. Do not use for soft gems or foe any jewelry that is strung, such as ivory or pearls. - Cold water soak. In a cup or bowl, combine half cold water and half household ammonia. Put the jewelry in and soak for 30 minutes. Do not leave it overnight or for a long period of time. After 30 minutes, remove the jewelry and gently clean the front and back of the setting, if necessary, with an eyebrow brush before swishing the jewelry in the solution again and draining it dry on tissue. Do not use soft gems or any jewelry that is strung, such as ivory or pearls. - Quick dip. Commercial jewelry cleaners generally employ the quick dip method. Since cleaners vary, you should read instructions carefully and follow them to the letter. Do not use cleaners on nay jewelry not specifically mentioned unless you check with a jeweler first. - Ultrasonic cleaners. You will find several of these small machines on the market. In general, the principle is that of using high frequency turbulence to clean jewelry soaking in a metal cup of water and detergent. Again, be sure to read and follow the directions with the utmost care and do not use the machine on any jewelry not specifically mentioned. Not all jeweler, feel these machine are safe even for diamonds. Before buying one, therefore, be sure to check with your jeweler and get his advice. These then are the common methods in general. Specific metals, and gems, require specific care. The methods described below are safe for the specific metals and won't harm most gems. Keep in mind, though, that some gems need special care. Whenever you have any doubt about cleaning jewelry, be sure to consult your jeweler. 1) Copper Copper will tarnish like silver in presence of moisture and sulfur. In most cases, however, a lacquer is baked on to prevent the jewelry from tarnishing. To clean copper, use any commercial cleaner that specifies it safe for copper. Do not use ammonia, which can erode copper. 2) Gold The lower the number of karats, the more gold will discolor due to the higher percentage of base metals in the alloy. Mild soap, water and ammonia will remove the discoloration with ease. One theory goes that you can prevent gold from leaving black mark on the skin by spraying the gold with hair spray. All you actually doing is adding a substance that can add to the tarnish. Keeping gold clean is the best way to avoid skin discoloration. In any case do not use hair spray on any gold with gems. Gold-filled. Remember, the character of gold filled jewelry is the same as the karat gold that makes up 1/20 of the total weight, except that the jewelry will not last as long as the same jewelry in solid karat gold. Gold-filled jewelry can be cleaned the same way as karat gold, with mild soap, and a drop of ammonia. Rolled gold plate. Rolled gold plate may contain less gold than rolled gold, but it should be cleaned the same way as gold-filled and karat gold jewelry. Gold electroplate. Although the layer of gold deposited by electroplating may be 7 to 100 millionths of an inch thick, good gold electroplate can wear as well as rolled gold. It should be wiped clean regularly with a damp, soft cloth, and a mild soap and water solution may be used to remove any makeup. Do not use a treated cloth to clean gold electroplate. Gold-washed or gold-flashed. Jewelry finished in this manner contains very little gold. The surface layer, in fact, is so thin that it may be negligible and wear off after a few times of being worn. Any cleaning, and particularly any rubbing, any remove the finish entirely. 3) Silver Any commercial silver cleaner or silver cloth will touch up and clean silver jewelry. Soap, water, and a drop of ammonia will also clean silver that is very lightly tarnished or may just need cleaning to remove makeup and perspiration. Silver-filled. Clean silver-filled jewelry in the same way as sterling. The older the jewelry, however, the more permanent the patina will be. Such a patina cannot be removed. Silver plate (or silver electroplate). Silver plate, unlike gold, can last for years and can be cleaned in the same way as sterling silver. It can be re-plated, if necessary, although re-plating is more common in silver tableware than in jewelry. 4) Combination metals Metals, including precious metals, are sometimes combined with other metals and with enamel. Be very careful in cleaning the metal that you don't clean off the inlay or enamel. The same caution holds true for vermeil, which is sterling silver with karat gold electroplate. If you must rub, rub very gently with soft cloth. 5) Gems Some gems need special care. That care includes both cleaning and storing gems. Be particularly careful with: Amber. Amber is the softest of all gems and will be scratched by all other gems. Be careful in wearing it and always store it by itself. It darkens gradually with age and exposures to light and should be kept in a cloth or leather bag case. Never use a rough clothe or clothe that may have dirt, dust, or grit on it to clean amber because of its softness. Never use acid to clean amber or wear amber when working with acids since acid will decompose amber. Alcohol and other solvents do not normally affect amber, however, unless it is exposed to them for a long period of time. For this reason, be careful not to leave amber in any cleaning solution, except very briefly. Hair spray and perfume can also affect amber. Coral. Coral is relatively tough. Be careful with twig coral in both storing and wearing, since the thinner the twigs the more easily the coral can break. Remember, coral is not a mineral and its luster may be spoiled by preparations used to clean other jewelry. Diamonds. Diamonds should be kept apart from other gems to avoid scratching the other gems. This rule holds true for both storage and cleaning. One expert suggests boiling diamonds for 10 minutes in soap, water, and ammonia to clean them. Ivory. Wash ivory carefully in soapy water, drying it with a damp cloth. Never soak ivory in soap and water, however, since soaking can cause it to crack or break. If you are cleaning ivory beads, do not get the string wet because the string will stay wet and can affect the beads. Do not use commercial jewelry cleaner or acid. Ivory darken with age. It can be bleached by sunlight or peroxide. If peroxide is used, do not soak the ivory in it, and avoid wetting any string with which ivory beads are strung with the peroxide. Keep in mind that ivory is permeable and relatively soft, factors tending to make it contract or shrink in cold and expand in heat. The combination of temperatures, along with soaking and drying out, can lead to the cracking of the ivory. Wiping it carefully with a soft, damp cloth, therefore, is probably the best method of cleaning ivory. Jet. Jet, although tough, is soft and should never be kept with other jewelry that can scratch it. Scratching diminishes its polish and lessens its value to collectors. Lapis Lazulli. Despite its softness, Lapis Lazulli wears well and is popular for men's jewelry and especially men's rings. Even though it may scratch, the scratches are not difficult for a good jeweler to polish out. Malachite. Malachite is soft and is not tough like jet. It breaks easily and should be worn with care. It also scratches easily, losing its polish. Be careful wearing it next to your skin, which can turn malachite dark or black. Moonstone. Moonstone's softness means that it needs care. Moonstones should be kept by themselves and cleaned carefully with only a very soft cloth and soap and water. Opals. All kinds of opals are fragile and require care, the most care of any other gem. The polished stones are usually thin and may crack or craze. One cause may be extremely cold weather, indirect sunlight, in hot dishwater, or when handling frozen foods. Cold weather may also cause opals to shrink, which means they can fall out of the setting. Because of their softness, they are easily scratched and may absorb dirt or grit, another reason for avoiding dishwater and being careful in cleaning them. Opals contain water, sometimes as much as 10%. Thus, they may dry out. For this reason, some experts suggest leaving them in water, in a mixture of water and glycerin, or in mineral oil to keep them from drying out and losing their fire, whenever they are not being worn. Use only a mild soap solution and a soft cloth to clean them. Never put opals in plastic bags, commercial jewelry cleaner, or acid. Pearls. Both Oriental and cultured pearls are genuine pearls and need a certain amount of special care. Cosmetics (including hair spray), dust, dirt, and particularly perspiration can affects pearls. They should be wiped carefully only with a soft clothe after wearing and kept in satin-lined box, never in a plastic bag. Because their softness, cars should be taken not to scratch them. Pearls need to be worn and allowed to breathe. Do not use commercial jewelry cleaner or acid to clean them. Peridot. Peridot scratches easily and tends to lose its polish. It should be stored and worn carefully but no special cleaning is necessary. Topaz. Topaz should be kept in dark, literally. The gems tend to fade or pale in light, and some yellow-brown topazes on display in museums have turned clear after several years. Remember, too, it cleaves easily. It does not require special cleaning methods. Turquoise. Since turquoise is very porous, it will absorb all sorts of impurities, especially if it is exposed to dirt and grease, such as in working in the yard or in washing dishes. Turquoise tends to change color with age. It may lighten, darken, or streak. According to an old wives' tale, burying turquoise in dirt restore the color, but the advice does not say for how long or what amount of dirt might be absorbed. You are probably better off learning to appreciate the change in color. Never expose turquoise to ammonia, which will spoil the surface by pitting or spotting. Jewelry cleaner and acid will also injure or destroy turquoise.

Spotting The Difference Between Bridesmaids Gifts And Gifts For Maid Of Honor by Jnet
The role of bridesmaids and maid of honor doesn't go far different. However, there are some responsibilities that the maid of honor need to do, different from bridesmaids. Being the maid of honor is equivalent to being the best man. Usually, the Maid of Honor is the best friend of the bride, and thus she has a special position in the hierarchy of the wedding. This also means she must receive a different kind of gifts (usually more expensive) from gifts for bridesmaids. She may be given a wedding goodie bag the same as bridesmaids, but it would always nice if she will be given a special present that is intended solely for her. But despite of the differences between the two gifts, there is still one common idea that links the gifts for maid of honor and bridesmaids, and that is the thought of thanking them and appreciating what they did to help make the wedding a success. If you are a bride who wants to single out your Maid of honor, you might need some research to do. Researching is pretty normal or shall I say an initiative from the bride who wants to make sure that the maid of honor's gifts shall be different from the those presents for the bridesmaids. While you are selecting bags of goodies for each girl, may also think of buying a China dish ware set as a special present for your best friend. Such gift idea alone would make everyone realized that she is not one of the bridesmaids, because she is the Maid of Honor.
As much as you want your Maid of Honor feel special on your wedding day, you also want your bridesmaids to feel the same way too. They will understand why you need to provide different gifts to the maid of honor, but also you have to make sure that theirs would be meaningful as well. Personalize the bridesmaids gifts if they are all the same. This way, they won't look totally the same. You can personalize each item by having the names or initials of your bridesmaids engraved, embroidered, or embossed on each gift. Of course, you can do that as well to the gifts for the maid of honor. Or, why not have their role title instead of names or initials? This also make a cool idea for both gifts.
The more gifts are related to your bridesmaids and maid of honor, the better. Choose bridal attendants gifts according to their personal preferences. For example, if both role players travel a lot, you can give them nice choices of tote bags that they can use for traveling. However, make sure to stick to the rule: bridesmaids can get the same kind of tote bags, while tote bag of the maid of honor must be different. You can also apply this rule on other items like when choosing jewelry gifts, bridal apparel, and other feminine ideas that are common to both bridesmaids and maid of honor.

How to Care for Your Imitation Jewellery

Jewellery adds fashion and beauty to our outfits and even a simple look can be enhanced to bring out a stylish elegance to our appearance.
Imitation Jewellery is a great way to have that new accessory at an affordable price. These days it is often very difficult to tell whether the piece is authentic or not and for those not in a position to buy expensive jewellery there is a huge range of very fashionable Imitation jewellery available in store or online.
Whilst Imitation Jewellery may not be made from precious metals or gems they should still be cared for in the same manner as more expensive jewellery.
The proper care of your Jewellery will ensure that it continues to look good and lasts for a long time. The most damaging factor to Jewellery is exposure to water and caustic or abrasive cleaning solutions. It is therefore important to take off your Jewellery before any kind of water exposure (i.e. showering, swimming, spa), and don't forget to take off rings or other jewellery that may get wet before washing dishes, washing clothes or using household/industrial cleaning solutions.
It is also a good idea to take off Jewellery prior to exercising because sweat can dull shiny surfaces over time. Jewellery should be put on after applying hairspray or perfume because these substances can cause discolouration and dull the shining surface of jewellery.
Before cleaning Jewellery it should be inspected to ensure there are no loose stones, broken clasps or chains that may require repairing.
To clean dust or dirt from a piece of Jewellery use a soft cloth or very soft toothbrush and lightly brush the area. A child's toothbrush or makeup brush makes an ideal brush but care must be taken not to apply too much pressure.
For more stubborn marks use a slightly damp soft cloth or baby wipe to carefully wipe the piece clean. If the mark is very stubborn dip the edge of the cloth into a solution of warm water with a drop of mild liquid detergent. Squeeze out any excess water and lightly rub the mark with the damp edge. Dry the piece immediately using a lint free soft cloth. Imitation Jewellery should never be soaked in any liquid as this can dissolve the glue or loosen the Jewellery settings.
Jewellery should be stored in a lined Jewellery box if possible or other airtight container to limit exposure to air which can discolour the Jewellery over time.
Jewellery for Sale is an online Australian store offering a fabulous selection of Imitation Fashion Jewellery and accessories at very affordable prices.
The collection is growing all the time and there is a large variety of Jewellery to select from including Necklaces, Bracelets, Earrings, Rings, Pandora Style, Body Piercing and Accessories.

How To Read Jewelry Marks

The number markings on precious gold jewelry are a bit of confusion to lots of people. We are generally used to seeing a karat or silver mark like this: 10K, 14K, 18K, Sterling, etc. The numbers mean the same thing.
For 14k the number is technically 583 but most manufacturers adopted the European way and make 14k gold a tiny bit over 14k, so the mark is 585 in most 14k jewelry. 18K is marked 750. If the mark is valid and there is a makers mark also in the jewelry, the number means these items are 18k gold.
Here is where the numbers come from. Pure gold is called 24 karat. For 18k gold, there are 18 parts of pure gold mixed with other metals to make the metal suitable for use in jewelry. 24k is too soft alone to stand up or to hold stones well. 18 parts pure gold divided by 24, or 18/24 equals 750. That is where the number comes from. The jewelry is 75% pure gold, 750 parts gold with 250 parts other metals out of "1000" parts. It is easier to think of it as a percent which is pure gold in the recipe.
Sterling silver is marked 925. Sterling is 92.5% pure silver and the rest is other metal, generally copper.
What does it mean if the ring marked 14K PR? The 14K simply means it is 14K (Karat) gold and because of the K means it would have been made in either South East Asia or The United States. The PR marks are just the Maker or Store ID or even a design mark, and have no relevence to the Value.
The basic decimal formula to work out the quality of gold content is quite simple, as they are all measured in 'Parts per Thousand.' This means that 9ct gold is calculated like this: 9 (for 9ct) is divided by pure gold (24) and then multiplied by 1000 (for pure gold as a decimal). ie: 9/24*1000=375 That 375 is the decimal quality for 9ct gold and is sometimes shown with a decimal point in front - .375
The old Victorian standard of 15ct gold is calculated the same way - 15/24*1000 = 625 (Not quite the numbers you have on your jewelry. Dental gold is 16ct or 666 recurring. But you can also reverse this formula by starting with the decimal and working back. ie: 375/1000*24 = 9
In your case we can use 698/1000*24 = almost 17ct
I have a platinum engagement ring and found a wedding ring that I really like but the band is made of palladium. Is it safe to wear these two metals together without one damaging the other?
It will wear the softer metal OVER TIME but that could take many years. My Grandmothers wedding ring eventually wore away the band of her engagement ring but it took over 20 years to do.
Platinum and Palladium and quite good together but I would take the advice of your local friendly jeweler and have them check both rings. Sometimes the Platinum may be a lower grade in order to make it harder - so have that checked.

A Few Facts About Jewellery
A Few Facts About Jewellery
By Adriana J NotonBrilliant, romantic, absolutely priceless in terms of sentimental and historical value, jewellery has been popular in many countries for many generations. The different stones and different settings all have become popular status symbols as well as symbols of love and devotion.
Ranging from rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, wedding rings, engagement rings, bracelets, diamonds and precious stones, ornamentation has evolved into many different forms. The uses of jewellery can be either to commemorate a special event or relationship, or for simple ornamentation especially for women.
Diamonds, first discovered and mined in India, are a popular choice for engagement rings, and this dates back to the time of Maximillian's engagement and eventual marriage to Mary of Burgundy in 1477. Diamonds have been regarded as the most coveted natural gemstones in the world throughout the centuries since their discovery, due to their brilliant characteristics and pure, untouched quality. These gems have been regarded as a status symbol for many women and have been marketed over and over again as items of sentimental value.
Rings, usually worn around the fingers of the hands or toes of the feet, are ornamental decorations that have been accepted in both men and women. Wedding rings attest to love and devotion to marriage, but rings in general can be used for symbolizing a very special relationship or bond between two people.
Rings are also worn by single men and women as a stylish accessory to add to their wardrobe, and some young people try to make their own styles by wearing these on every finger to display individuality. Popular in many forms, rings are effectively manufactured with jewelled settings as well as plain, flat bands made of precious metals.
Bracelets and necklaces are usually worn for adornment by many women, and some men even like to wear these to emphasize a unique identity. These pieces are very popular during celebrations, special occasions, and other social events.
These pieces of accessory are usually worn to intentionally catch attention to the beauty of the wearer. Mainly popular in high society circles, large necklaces with expensive precious stones and diamonds are always given great emphasis and praise during gatherings.
Earrings, nose rings, and other types of pierced rings are not only in this category, but are also considered body modification since techniques of piercing are required for such pieces to be worn. The concept of beauty in this case, is in the eyes of the beholder or the culture from which it came.
Foot accessories such as anklets (ankle bracelets) and toe rings are also a popular choice by young people in this generation. Anklets and toe rings are given a more sexual connotation due to their unique placement on the foot that catches attention to the wearer's legs and feet.
Whether traditional or modern, jewellery has seen an evolution all on its own through the generations. From the time of ancient dwellers in Africa to the time of Kings and Queens in the European Renaissance Era, to today's modern, upscale young professionals in the business districts of many cities worldwide.
r>Jewellery has found its niche in history and will continue being popular and well worn all the way into the future. Regardless whether made of precious metal, jewels, rocks, wooden or plastic beads, they will always be a part of society's way of trying to stay beautiful and stylish for many generations to come.

Different Types of Crystal Wedding Jewellery

There are many types of crystals used in wedding jewellery so sometimes when people refer to crystal jewellery they could be referring to one of two things, Diamante jewellery (sometimes spelt diamonte) and crystal jewellery which has been handmade with crystal beads and components.
Diamante jewellery can be bought from many places such as accessories shop in your local town or from online stores. If you find that you can buy a diamante necklace for less than £10 you're probably buying fake diamantes. You'll find that in many places what are passed off as diamante stones are actually acrylic and lack the transparency or sparkle of higher quality glass or crystal.
Quality diamantes are created from facetted glass or crystal which helps reflect the light plus a backing of a metallic material which is usually silver. It is both of these properties that makes diamante jewellery so sparkly. Diamante stones also usually have their backs encased in a metal surround such as gold or silver plating. Diamantes are available in many different colours as they are man made but most diamante wedding jewellery will be clear in colour.
There are a number of different diamante stones such as Swarovski diamantes which are sometimes called rhinestones. These are the most sort-after diamante due to their high quality. Czech crystals are also used in manufacturing diamantes, they are exceptional quality and the difference between these and the Swarovski diamante are minimal. Even diamantes created from Austrian glass or crystal have exceptional sparkle and make an excellent alternative to Swarovski diamantes.
True Crystal jewellery is created from crystal beads, sometimes the shop will state who is the manufacturer or county of origin, sometimes they will just be called "crystals". If you find that the seller is just referring to them as "crystals" ask specifically which type they are as sparkle and shine differs with each brand or type.
If you can afford them and want maximum sparkle then Swarovski crystals are deemed to be the highest quality. This is due to their higher lead content and their ability to precision cut each crystal to ensure the optimal facet angles for shine and sparkle.
If price is more of an issue then Czech crystals might be more for you, while they are not as sparkly as Swarovski crystals, their quality is quite high and unless you look closely only other jewellery professionals will be able to tell the difference. The reason they aren't as sparkly is down to their cut which is not as precise as the Swarovski crystals and their lower lead content, making them less reflective.
I've also come across Austrian crystal beads and while their Austrian crystal diamantes (see above) are good quality the beads that I've had the misfortune to come across have been milky and dull in nature, they still have sparkle but look inexpensive.
I hope I've given you enough information about crystal wedding jewellery to enable you to make the right choice. Remember if you have and questions about choosing your bridal accessories you can contact me at the site Wedding And Gems.

Jewellery - An in Depth Look

Jewellery - An in Depth Look
By Roberto SedyciasJewelery often symbolizes something special representing something from the past or the present. It can also be used just as a fashion tool as in an accessory to an outfit or look. Some people have lots of it, while others just have one or two of each item. Jewelery is a personal item that is picked out using careful consideration and individual taste.
In many cultures around the world, jewelery can symbolize something. In some countries many beads are worn around the neck, in others its bangles hung over the wrists. In some places a diamond crown is worn to signify a sense of leadership and power. Belly necklaces and chains sometimes go with a special dance and ritual. Rings can be used as a sign of marriage or marriage forth coming. Jewelery is often given to children as they go through special steps in their lives or steps taken through their church.
Jewelery is made using many different kinds of tools and machines. It can be hand-made or machine cut. And jewelery can also be custom designed or designed by a jewelery maker. Diamonds are a common and beautiful aspect to jewelery. They often sit on a ring to symbolize marriage and can be grouped together with other diamonds or sit all on its own. And diamonds can be cut small or big and hence can cost anywhere from not very expensive to very pricey.
An expert can tell when a diamond is of good quality, they can do this by looking at it through a special glass, it checks for clarity. The better the clarity, the better the cut of diamond and the more it will sparkle and cost the person buying it. Gold and silver are also popular around jewelery. Often times one or both of them are included in an item of jewelery. Gems can also be placed in jewelery. There are many cuts and shapes, designs and colors that gems can come in, making them perfect for adding to a piece of jewelery. Gems are just as beautiful but not as popular as diamonds when it comes to what most people wear. Gems can be put into jewelery to signify a person's birth date or the birthdays of all their family members.
The kind of jewelery worn differs for every person. Some people wear a watch every day and sometimes they have several of them. This type of jewelery is considered essential because they need to know the time. Other people wear necklaces and bracelets just for fun. Either the piece represents something special or they just like the way it looks. Some people dress their toes up in toe rings in silver or gold bands. Some toe rings are plain while others carry diamonds or small gems. The belly button and earrings are places that piercings can be put. It is common to see a gold loop or a diamond stud in these places.
Broaches are also a type of jewelery that is not very common to see these days. Back in the sixties it was very popular to wear a broach on your sweater or shirt. It usually consisted of lots of gems and/or diamonds. These days broaches are simply kept in boxes and handed down to different generations as keep sake.
